To obtain the Certificate of Habitability or license of second occupation, the owner must request it to the City Council of Alicante, presenting the certificate issued by a competent technician that certifies that the house meets the conditions that gave rise to the granting of the first occupation license, in accordance with section 2 of article 34 of the Law on Planning and Promotion of Quality in Building. The Certificate of Habitability is a document that confirms the habitability of an old dwelling. It is issued at the request of the applicant if it is required for the provision of services in the dwelling (electricity, water, gas, etc.), for second or subsequent occupations, for the rental of housing, for the granting of loans or for the sale of housing in special cases.
This license has an autonomous regulation, so each municipality has some preferences regarding the information required, although in all cases it is necessary to include at least the following documentation:
Copy of the DNI / NIE of the owner
Copy of the deed Certificate of second occupation
Proof of Payment of Fees (will depend on each City Council)
